Tales of Draqoyin - 3 Muskies - Part 4

VHS tape Tales of Draqoyin - Part 4 - 3 Muskies

The third trip, my boyfriend has joined us. 3 Musketeers!

Go hard or go home

Yawning, yawning, yawning. Tears, salty in taste, stream down my cheeks. The trip begins...

We lie on the blanket, the three of us, just like last time. The weather is beautiful, and the temperature is pleasantly warm.

I'm a bit more alert this time. My boyfriend has joined us, and it's his first time. I don't know how he'll react to these substances, so I check in with him regularly.

From the moment it began, I lay down and close my eyes. I want to explore my internal world and how I experience it. Strongly believing that I can derive stories from the insides of my eyelids, I lie in between on the ground. In the distance, I hear music; we've brought a speaker and are enjoying "The Ambientalist." While the musical notes are clear, I focus on my eyelids. The pamphlet I saw last time is now moving. For what feels like a good 10 minutes, I can follow the image. The 2-minute film is so slowed down that it fills the full 10 minutes of time. I open my eyes.

It's less cloudy than last time, but still enough cotton to follow; I've never really paid attention to how the cloud formations merge. It happens so slowly that you don't always notice it on an ordinary day. It's as if you have control over what the clouds are going to do.

I check in with my boyfriend again. He tells me he sees tentacles and skulls. I don't understand what he means. How can you see that? I wonder. Not much is happening with me... "It gives you what you need."

After a while, he curls up. He wants to lie in the fetal position. I notice he needs more attention and pull him close to me. As he lies with me, I ask him questions and try to distract him. My friend and I keep him talking, and we chat away.

The most remarkable thing about these trips is that we seem to pick up right where we left off each time.

Towards the end of the trip, my boyfriend starts to feel relaxed again. A deep sigh, and we blow the trip away... Woosh.
